My experiences in a nutshell

Browse through my experiences in different branches of Engineering.

Other than these, I have been working in sales management of wireless telecommunications products for more than 5 years in Canada and one year in technical training in the Kingdom of Tonga. For more than eight years I taught in three technical institutes around the globe.

Mechanical Engineering Experience

For last more than 22 years I have taken challanges on different mechanical engineering projects: Design, installations, maintenance and repair; you name it.

Top photograph shows Eastern Refinery at Chittogong, Bangladesh where I was engineer-in-charge from Highspeed Group. Total revamping included shell repair, refractory, piping in both radiant and convection zone, insulation etc.

Bottom Photograph shows 400 cubic meter capacity 5-stage Main Air Compressor installation and commissioning at Bangladesh Oxygen Plant. The flywheel weighed 7 tons while the crankshaft weighed 9 tons. The big and heavy main bearings were in four pieces each.

Marine design and construction experience

Starting from 1980 I have designed, modified, constructed and repaired a number of marine structures and had the golden opportunity of working with Mitsui Engineerng Co. of Japan, FAO (United Nations) and a number of high ranking consultants from around the world.

Vessel types included Speed Boats, Luxury Yachts, Tugboats, Inspection Launch, Petrol Boat, Passenger Vessel, Cargo coasters, Oil Tankers, Fishing Trawlers, Coastal and Ocean-going ships.

Marine Engineering Experience

In addition to boat design and repair, I was extensively engaged with marine engines and equipment repair/maintenance. You can hardly name a major component of a ship that I did not work on.

Mechanical works in different other industries

As the manager and owner of engineering workshops from 1984 to 1989 and as technical trainer, I worked on numerous industrial projects in design, installations, repairs of various kinds of machineries and equipment.

60ft Tug Boat with 600HPx600rpm Hanshin Engine for Chittogong Port Authority, Bangladesh

This tug boat was designed by me and built by Dhaka Dockyard Ltd. for the Chittogong Port Authority. The propulsion engine being a slow rpm one occupied a significant amount of boat space.

As a Mechanical Engineer on a UN project to supervise the construction, maintenance and repair works of all dredging equipment in the Dredge Depot under the Ministry of Primary Industries in Fiji Islands, I was involved in the design, construction and commissioning of this dredge.

96ft Petrol boat "MV Shanket", built for National Board of Revenue, Bangladesh with 2x1000HP V-type 16 cylinder Deutz Engine achieved 19.5 knots, fastest of it's kind when commissioned.

From 1980 to 1992 I have repaired or modified dozens of marine structures including inland, coastal and ocean-going vessels.

Photograph shows 18000dwt Cargo Vessel MV Al-Reza. Repair of contact damage at the forecastle and class repair was done on shell plate and forepeak tank structures.

This photograph in Tonga Chronical news paper at Nuku'alofa in the Kingdom of Tonga shows me conducting a training on how to repair and maintain automobiles.

Starting with my part-time teaching in an Engineering University in Bangladesh, I have taught in Maritime Schools, both in Bangladesh and Fiji Islands and conducted numerous training classes on welding, mechanical workshops, fabrications, repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment in various parts of the world.
